Joining

You can now join us in several different ways, as a member of the:

• Theatre Club - our supporters group, who receive a monthly newsletter and priority booking at discounted prices
• Mailing list - to receive email information about forthcoming productions at the Abbey Theatre three or four times a year
• Company of Ten - our main performing company
• Company of Teens - our youth theatre group

Theatre Club

• Join as a friend of the theatre and keep in touch
• Priority booking and ticket price discounts
• A monthly newsletter, Abbey Theatre News, gives information about productions and priority booking. It also gives an insight into what is going on behind the scenes
• There are opportunities to help out at the theatre, if you wish, in areas such as the box office, stewarding, coffee selling and the bar. Some theatre club members even help with painting or offer their technical expertise

Membership costs £12 a year, or £33 for three years, per household

Mailing List

• Register (free) and you will receive occasional emailings from the theatre. Your name will not be passed on to any other organization

Company of Ten

• Join as a full member and get involved
• The Company of Ten is the group that built the theatre, runs it, and stages at least ten productions a year. There are about 400 members ranging in age from 14 to over 90. You do not need to have any expertise or knowledge of theatre to join. There are numerous theatrical and non-theatrical things to do. Your involvement can be as much or as little as you want
• Examples:
  • Theatrical - take part in productions: Acting , directing, prompting, stage management, set design, set construction, lighting, sound, props, costumes
  • Front of House - help audiences: House manage, steward, box office, bar, coffee and ice cream sales
  • Activities - run, help with or take part in activities: social events, Company of Teens, training, playwriting, play reading, newsletters, new ventures
  • Maintain and improve the theatre and facilities: Maintenance, repairs, painting, carpentry, electrical, DIY
  • Running the theatre and Company of Ten: Management, finance, administration, marketing, and just helping out when needed
• A monthly newsletter, Prompt Corner, keeps you fully informed
• Priority booking and ticket price discounts are available to you
• Make new friends, enjoy yourself, and be proud of your contribution

Annual membership (2011-12) £40 for individuals, with discounts for joint membership and concessions, and for membership taken out for four years. Request an application pack for details.

Concessions are available to over 60s, teens, and registered unemployed

Company of Teens

• The youth group of the Company of Ten meets once a week for a wide variety of activities

Teens join the Company of Ten at a concessionary rate (£24 a year). More details...
