MASTER of mayhem Alan Ayckbourn explores the chaos that is all too often Christmas in the next production by the Company of Ten.

The St Albans drama group is putting on Season’s Greetings at the Abbey Theatre from next Friday, November 9, until Saturday, November 17.

It is Christmas Eve in the home of Neville and Belinda Bunker. In the kitchen Auntie Phyllis, rather the worse for drink, is trying to prepare dinner. Pregnant Pattie and her husband Eddie are constantly bickering and retired Action Man Uncle Harvey is watching bloodthirsty films on TV.

That of course is just setting the scheme. What follows is an amazingly-inept puppet show, an illicit liaison blown by a child’s toy and an attempted murder together with a few more ingredients in a wry comedy that sums up the other Spirit of Christmas – the nightmare one.

Tickets are available from the box office on 01727 857861 or on-line from www.abbeytheatre.org.uk
