A couple of plays from acting couple

22 May 2008

AN EVENING of new North American plays is being held in the Abbey Theatre Studio in St Albans at the end of next week.

Local actors and real-life couple Ian Jordan and Kelsey Kilburn are putting on Goodnight Tomorrow next Friday and Saturday, May 30 and 31.

Ian was born in St Albans, spending most of his life in the city before training to become a professional actor and travelling to Vancouver in Canada.

It was there that he met Kelsey who later moved back to St Albans with him and now the couple are putting on their own show.

They have both appeared locally - Ian in John Godber's Bouncers with Act Two Productions and Kelsey in Breakaway Theatre's production of Let It Be Me by Carol Jane Hardy

Goodnight Tomorrow features Erin and Elizabeth in which Kelsey, who also wrote it, explores the beauty and significance of childhood friendship.

It follows two young girls as they meet at summer camp and form an unbreakable bond which spans their adolescence until separation ultimately befalls them.

Ian stars in Adam Rapp's play Nocturne which premiered in 2000 and was described variously as unnerving, lushly poetic and tragically eloquent.

It begins with the simple fact, "Fifteen years ago I killed my sister" and follows the protagonist, a lonely writer hiding in his book-laden New York apartment, recounting the accident that led him to such isolation.

Nocturne charts the pain, loss and reality of a man trapped in grief.

Tickets are available by calling the box office on 01727 857861 or visiting www.abbeytheatre.org.uk.
