AUDIENCES for the Company of Ten's next production, Translations, are guaranteed to do a double take when they walk into the Abbey Theatre.

For the stage has been transformed into an old Irish barn for the St Albans drama group's production of Brian Friel's acclaimed play.

Set in Donegal in 1833, Translations is a moving and humorous tale which combines historical drama, political thriller and a story of impossible love. At its core are two interlocking themes - our collective relationship to language and the fact that in Ireland, place always matters.

Music for the production which runs from next Friday, February 23, to March 3, in the theatre at Westminster Lodge is provided by the St Albans branch of the Comhaltas Ceoltoiri Eireann.

Tickets are available from the box office on 01727 857861.
