The 'Tuesday Club' at the Abbey Theatre

STAGE sets produced by the dedicated team at the Company of Ten often get a round of applause before an actor even appears on the stage.

So it comes as no surprise that during August when the Abbey Theatre is unused, the set builders have been hard at work.

Every Tuesday - and sometimes on Thursdays and Fridays as well - the "Tuesday Club" spends the day preparing the current set.

This summer the team has been hard at work on the set for the opening production of the Company of Ten season, Alan Ayckbourn's Role Play.

Set in a Docklands apartment, it is being built complete with chrome fixtures, a burgundy kitchen provided by InToto of George Street and original art produced by Ben Askem at Graphics Plus in the High Street.

The set builders are hoping that it will be one to remember when the curtain goes up on Role Play which runs from Friday, September 15, until September 23.
