A Doll's House
A CENTURY after the playwright's death, the Company of Ten is putting on one of Ibsen's classic plays.

It is staging A Doll's House in the Abbey Theatre Studio in St Albans from tomorrow until Saturday, October 21.

Regarded as one of Ibsen's masterpieces, A Doll's House was years ahead of its time in its view of marriage and how women lived in a gilded cage.

The disintegration in the relationship between Nora and her husband Torvald is effectively a scathing criticism of the traditional roles of men and women in Victorian marriage.

The couple, whose marriage seems so strong when they first appear on the stage, undergo a complete transformation as Nora does what she feels she has to do in order to save her husband's life and he reacts with disgust and horror.

Performances of A Doll's House start at 8pm and tickets are available from the Abbey Theatre box office on 01727 857861 or visit www.abbeytheatre.org.uk to download a booking form.
