The stars of Pinocchio with Mike Osborne of Radio Verulam

YOUNG Pinocchio stars have been interviewed by Radio Verulam about their parts in the Company of Ten Christmas show.

Emma Barry, Samantha Bingley and Jack O'Brien gave an interview to Mike Osborne of Radio Verulam about the show which opens at the Abbey Theatre on Friday evening.

Radio Verulam is currently internet-based but is hoping to gets its licence shortly to broadcast free to air.

Asked whether it was fun appearing in a Christmas play, Samantha said the best part was getting to wear green stage make-up and a costume that was nearly all green.

The St Albans drama group has chosen John Morley's adaptation of Pinocchio which has all the charm of the original with some darker aspects.

The schoolboy puppet comes to life and is lured away to Funland where he becomes a donkey. He tells lies and grows an enormous nose before he finally becomes a real boy.

The show is being performed until December 30 and tickets can be obtained from the Abbey Theatre box office on 01727 857861.
