1 December 2005A Christmas Cracker: A Miscellany of Words and Music of Christmas Past and Present, will comprise a selection of poetry, prose, songs and carols both for and against Christmas.
Many of the usual Christmas subjects will be represented - Dickens will obviously get in a word or two - as will some of the voices raised in protest at "this awful time of year".
As well as including some new material since the Company of Ten's last performance of A Christmas Cracker two years ago, the drama group hopes to be joined by some members of Quorum, led by Ewart Hopkins, who will sing some appropriately-seasonal songs and lead the audience in carols.
Audiences will have a chance to sample some mince pies and mulled wine with the bar and coffee available as usual.
A Christmas Cracker is being performed at 8pm from Thursday, December 8, to Saturday, December 10, in the Abbey Theatre Studio. Tickets can be obtained from the box office on 01727 857861.
Following recent practice of working with young talented students, the poster for A Christmas Cracker has been designed by a young member of the Company of Teens.
Alex Thomas, who attends Roundwood School in Harpenden, has produced a simple but effective design for the production.
