CLASSIC children's tale The Secret Garden is the Company of Ten's choice for its Christmas show.

Based on Frances Hodgson Burnett's original novel, it has been a favourite for all ages since 1911.

A magical adaptation, it tells the story of Mary Lennox who is orphaned in India and sent to live with her uncle in a gloomy house in Yorkshire.

A selfish, spoilt and lonely girl, she might have remained that way had she not made friends with Dickon, a local boy who loves wild animals.

Mary learns to love them too and she then starts to make discoveries in the large old house. Above all, she finds the Secret Garden, a special place for her and her new friends.

The play keeps close to the book with short, constantly-changing scenes featuring puppets, a snake charmer, a man on a bed of nails and other Indian magic.
