IS
THIS a pig I see before me? Will Franklin, who is taking a key role in the Company
of Ten's next production Oh! Clarence, decided
to immerse himself fully in the part with a visit to a St Albans farm.
Will plays the Hon Freddie Threepwood, son and heir to Clarence, ninth Earl of Emsworth, in the production which runs from Friday May 11th until Saturday, May 21st, at the Abbey Theatre in St Albans.
One of the Earl's great passions is to potter around Blandings castle tending his roses and prize pig.
So in the interests of authenticity, Will took a trip to Hedges Farm on the North Orbital Road to make the acquaintance of their porcine stock.
He was shown around and introduced to the livestock by Drew Woollatt who extended the same warm welcome to Carol Clothier, office manager, and Amanda Ruggles, partner, of Gilberts Chartered Accountants who are sponsoring the publicity for Oh! Clarence and the Company of Ten's programme card for the next three years.
Tickets for Oh! Clarence, adapted from Blandings Castle and other Lord Emsworth stories by P.G. Wodehouse, can be obtained from the Abbey Theatre box office on 01727 857861 or by going to www.abbeytheatre.org.uk.
